About
the Dexter 1855 House The Dexter 1855 House is a Victorian Bed and Breakfast nestled in the scenic “Golden Crescent” area on Lake Ontario’s eastern shore. The Village of Dexter is located on the banks of the Black River, minutes from historic Sackets Harbor, minutes from the Thousand Islands and thirty miles south of the Canadian boarder along I-81. We are conveniently located two miles from the Watertown International Airport. Transportation to and from airport can be arranged. Fishing, canoeing, sailing, golfing, four-wheeling, kayaking, backpacking, bicycling, and antiquing or just visiting this unique area can make for a pleasurable experience and lasting memories. The Black River, with calm bays and fast flowing waters, makes it a fisherman’s paradise. Summer boasts of bass and walleye tournaments and in the fall, salmon fishing draws crowds of spectators who line the shore and bridges to watch.
